Description:

The Department of Sociology at Manchester Metropolitan is one of the largest in the UK; with 85 members of staff and over 1500 students on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It is student centred with a strong focus on teaching excellent research-led criminology. The Department is also research-intensive, recently ranked in REF2022 as top 15 for research power. Our research is applied, empirical, methodologically innovative, and highly cross-disciplinary. The Department has particular research strengths in policy evaluation, young people and youth justice, and substance use/abuse: it is home to the nationally recognised PERU, MCYS, and Q-Step research centres.

Responsibilities:

HOURLY PAID ASSOCIATES/WORKERS (TEACHING RELATED) COVER A NUMBER OF ROLES AT THE UNIVERSITY SUCH AS:

  • Language Tutors
  • Demonstrators
  • Placement Trainers
  • Markers
  • Tutors
  • Placement Moderators
  • Teaching Assistant

AS AN HOURLY PAID ASSOCIATE/ WORKER IN THESE ROLES YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE:

  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet objectives.
  • The ability to use initiative when dealing with a wide range of issues and problems, challenging decisions appropriately.
  • A degree or appropriate equivalent experience in your subject area, along with knowledge and understanding of the changing nature of HE
