Responsibilities:

  • Organise and schedule customer deliveries from the depot.
  • Deal with customer requests and anomalies as required, raising credit notes and checking payment logs accordingly.
  • Coordinate annual leave of depot staff to ensure suitable labour coverage during peak periods.
  • Recruit and train new drivers and assistants to the expected standard of Castell Howell Foods Ltd.
  • Maximise the utilisation and efficiency of the vehicle and labour resource available, ensuring compliance with H&S methods and all other legal requirements.
  • Coordinate the loading and departure of all delivery vehicles, accommodating customer requests, short loads and other daily issues as they arise.
  • Monitor and adjust delivery routes according to sales patterns to ensure that workloads are as evenly spread as possible, whilst considering efficiency and optimisation.
  • Deal with daily/weekly driver infringements, including tachograph, delivery process and customer feedback, providing training and guidance where necessary, whilst updating employee records accordingly.
  • Arrange any assistance required on busier routes.
  • Liaise with the Sales Team to develop and promote efficient business growth whilst utilising existing resources.
  • Carry out weekly and monthly checks as required for H&S compliance.
  • Monitor and check all vehicles for damage on a weekly basis.
  • Work towards improving average delivery count, route value and route weight per scheduled delivery route.
  • Carry out investigations and disciplinaries where appropriate
  • Carry out training and mentoring to employees within the depot
  • Ensure roadworthiness and cleanliness of fleet is maintained at all times
  • Organise both planned and reactive maintenance for the commercial vehicle fleet in accordance to legal requirements
    The successful candidate should have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and have excellent communication and organisational skills to manage the team of 20+ multi-drop delivery drivers.
