Job description
Category Land is an integral part of Category Area Transport, with around 90 co-workers based in 9 locations in 3 regions, Europe & Middle East, Americas, and Asia & Pacific. Category Land is responsible for securing and developing optimal transport capacity at the right price in a sustainable way, fulfilling agreed service precision and quality demands, while complying to safety and security requirements, to continuously contribute to the IKEA Vision and Business Idea.

As a Deputy Category Manager Land, you are an integral part of leading, managing, and developing the category business and people, and ensuring alignment with our vision, business idea and culture & values. Your primary focus and responsibility is the Europe & Middle East region, but you handle defined global tasks & responsibilities, as well. As a Deputy Category Manager, you act in the following dimensions:

  • Together with the category manager, responsible for development and implementation of the Category Business Plan, securing business performance in all dimensions, both today and tomorrow.
  • Lead, manage and develop the whole Category Land business In Europe & Middle East, securing performance in terms of cost development, precision, sustainability, quality, supply chain security, and safety.
  • Lead and develop the European team of BDMs and specialists consisting of over 50 co-workers.
  • In collaboration with other parts of SCO and other stakeholders, create preconditions for operational performance in both category dimension and in end-to-end perspective.
  • Responsible for the development of wished position for the future service provider landscape and portfolio. Lead the development of service provider portfolio to secure both all performance dimensions, and internal efficiency. Service provider classification in Europe & Middle East.
  • Lead and manage procurement process in Category Land – procurement events and implementation of their results, procurement process, ways of working, and tools. Responsible for development of Category Land transport agreement package.
  • Responsible for definition and deployment of different ways of working, e.g. related to future pricing models, extra costs, “spot” procurement practices, or ways external benchmarks are used.
  • Key contributor to “Network design” in building new parts of the network (e.g. new DCG split, etc.). Contribute to the enhancement of the DORS model, setting parameters, endorsement of results.
  • Lead and contributes to projects and global assignments.

Qualification
To be successful in this role you have experience from different leadership positions within IKEA Supply Chain. You enjoy leading business and people together. You have a proven record of consistently meeting agreed goals. You are capable to develop and to lead an organization in a fast-changing operational environment and you know how to enable change. You are result oriented, have a lot of energy and desire to constantly find new ways to develop yourself, your co-workers, and the business. You can interact, build relationships, and align with other supply chain functions within IKEA as well as represent the category in cross functional forums. You have an excellent knowledge and experience in meeting and interacting with external partners, in both “sunny” and “rainy” days. You are inspired & driven by the IKEA culture and values.
You have good knowledge of IKEA strategic landscape, business model, code of conduct, business ethics, business year cycle and governance structure. You have good knowledge of functions in the IKEA supply chain, and how they interact.
You posses a deep knowledge of transport & logistics industry and market in Europe. You are aware of the main trends and future directions in terms of market regulation, de-carbonization, applicable innovative solutions, developments influencing cost development, and you know how to act upon those. You have good understanding how other shippers work and how they build their supply chains.
