Description:

Duties/Pligte

  • Operational Excellence: Supporting the creation of a financially sustainable faculty through innovative, future-focused supporting mechanisms. Establishing and maintaining a clear financial strategy linking the budget with the Faculty’s overall strategy. Collecting, analysing, and maintaining relevant data and management information to inform the Senior Director about internal and external impacts on financial and operational strategies. Providing timely and accurate information to key stakeholders and ensuring compliance with University policies.
  • Finance Management: Managing annual budget-related responsibilities, including overall financial forecasting, risk analysis, preparation of budgets and allocation of funds. Managing allocated central funds and financial management of short courses. Taking responsibility for annual internal audits where necessary. Overseeing day-to-day financial processing.
  • Procurement: Managing central faculty procurement within policies and guidelines and ensuring accurate financial reporting and asset management.
  • Human Resources: Drafting the annual personnel plan within allocated funding framework and monthly monitoring of expenditure. Ensuring adherence to human resource policies and guidelines.
  • Facilities Management: Managing client project requests, interface between Faculty and Facilities Management, optimal space utilisation, and the Faculty service team providing various operational services.
  • Information Technology: Ensuring that Faculty ICT needs are aligned and managed within the broader University ICT strategy. Optimal utilisation of FMHS ICT funds, managing the central telephone system, and supporting operational software applications.
  • Administrative and Student Support: Setting strategic objectives and guiding operational planning for professional support services.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Engaging with institutional stakeholders to achieve the Faculty’s vision and contributing to the formulation and implementation of strategic plans. Assisting with strategic projects and overseeing execution.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • Honour’s degree in accounting and completed articles;
  • At least five years’ relevant experience in a senior management environment, with a proven track record in financial management, human resources, and operational management - preferably within the higher education sector.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office 365 skills, in-depth knowledge of business analysis and methodology, and familiarity with the Public Healthcare framework in South Africa.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and develop business plans.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to improving operational processes.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • Postgraduate diploma in management / master’s in business administration (MBA / MBL).
  • Knowledge of policy and procedures related to university administration.
  • Relevant experience in student administration at a tertiary institution.
  • A working knowledge of academic administration systems and ERP systems.
