Description:

Due to the promotion of the previous post holder, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for an exceptional mental health nurse leader to influence and lead the mental health nursing profession.
The Deputy Director of mental health nursing will report directly to the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for England for professional system leadership and will provide expert clinical, practice and policy advice to NHS England, health systems, and health and social care providers. You will need to have extensive clinical and leadership experience within mental health settings, be able to work autonomously and be a credible and respected mental health nurse.
This role provides the opportunity for you to provide strategic nursing leadership for mental health services on behalf of NHS England, ensuring that the organisation provides system support for ICBs and providers to deliver high quality, safe mental health services now and in the future.

As a Deputy Director for Mental Health Nursing, the post holder will lead and work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across directorates to deliver high quality, safe mental health services now and in the future.
The post holder is the policy, quality improvement and professional advisory lead and is responsible for the strategic nursing leadership of mental health services on behalf of NHSE.
In collaboration with national partners, the post holder will be expected to create an annual plan with objectives that meet the directions of the Long Term Plan.
