Deputy Director of Community and Mental Health Services
Band: 8D
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Base: West Essex – Harlow, Epping and Uttlesford

An exciting opportunity to join Essex Partnership NHS Foundation NHS Trust in a senior role within the West Essex Community care group. The successful candidate will take on the responsibilities of the Deputy Director of Community and Mental (with a focus on Specialist Dementia Frailty) health services as set out in the job description attached. They will need to lead with care by promoting team work and supporting a caring environment and ensure the provision of high quality care across West Essex.
Transformational Leadership is key for the post holder as they will lead and support the delivery of the Care Close to Home model for West Essex, with a shift from reactive care to proactive preventative care with a focus on the sustained reduction for the frail and elderly in both A&E attendances and unplanned admissions. The post holder will lead on productivity gains across community health services, improving areas of key performance, interpretation and implementation of national, regional and local policy and strategy relating to Community Physical and Mental Health services.
The post holder will engage and work collaboratively with our partnerships and system by maintaining and building a good working relationship with all operational services, Clinical leadership, 6 Primary Care Networks, Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board, Essex County Council, NHS England and our improvement and system partner organisations. You will need to ensure these services are safe, effective, well-coordinated and responsive delivering benefits for patient’s, family and carers and meet the changing needs of the local population.
The successful post holder will have operational responsibility and will need to build capability to enable teams to meet future challenges. They will be accountable for the delivery of services, cost improvement programmes and supporting the Care Unit Triumvirate.

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

The post holder will need to act independently, taking timely and at times, significant decisions to ensure the operational delivery for the organisation and wider system, driving change and improvement by supporting and influencing both the operational delivery teams and corporate teams.
The post holder will demonstrate skills in dealing with complex complaints including face-to-face meeting with clients and relatives. The post holder will also demonstrate skill to carryout investigations in serious incidents and staff conduct issues.
