Description:
As a key member of the Clinical Governance Department, the Deputy Head of Clinical Governance will work closely with the Head of Clinical Governance; and the other members of the senior management team [Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Manager; Clinical Outcomes Manager; Patient Safety Team manager]; Deputy Chief Medical Officer; and colleagues from across the organisation to assist the Trust in achieving the strategic goals set out in the OUH Strategy.
The successful candidate will be from a clinical background, able to organise and prioritise their workload; have an excellent working knowledge of Clinical Governance, have an in depth knowledge and practical experience in managing clinical quality improvement programmes such as quality priorities and commissioner-based quality improvement programmes as well as have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should have a background in working with teams from different professional backgrounds, and prior experience in the NHS would be highly desirable. They will be passionate about improving patient safety systems in conjunction with analysis and learning from themes from clinical incident, claims and complaints and be conversant with the NHS Patient Safety Strategy.
Assist in the production of the Annual Quality Account, programme of associated Quality Priorities, and assist in running the annual stakeholder event where these are chosen and showcased.
Assist in setting up the CQUIN or equivalent programme and monitoring its progress with regular reports to relevant Trust committees.
Line manage a designated part of the Clinical Governance Team under the guidance of the Head of Clinical Governance, this includes the Clinical Outcomes manager, the Clinical Audit & Effectiveness manager and the Ulysses team manager.
Organise the administration and support the Chair of the Technologies Appraisal Group (TAG). TAG meets monthly and has a fast moving agenda linked to patient care; clinical audits is a key part of ensuring that approvals are safe and clinically effective.
