  • Experience as a first responder for critical incidents and of risk management in a welfare context would also be an advantage

Responsibilities:

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Deputy Head of Hall, Capital Hall on a permanent, full-time basis. The role will support the Head of Hall, Capital Hall to provide leadership, pastoral care, and management within the Halls of Residence.

Key responsibilities:

  • Form part of the Hall Management team including acting in place of the Head of Hall, Capital Hall when required.
  • Support Head of Hall, Capital Hall to run a 24/7 efficient service with a focus on community building, promoting student engagement and the wellbeing of our residents.
  • Plan and coordinate the events calendar - ensuring it remains within budget so that the Hall offers a range of opportunities for residents to participate in throughout the year.
  • Provides a leadership presence for staff and residents, including attending and supporting Hall events throughout the year.
  • Ensure compliance with the University’s policies, budget requirements, procedures and reporting obligations and relating to Health & Safety and risk management.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of Resident Advisers to deliver a 24/7 service and ensuring they are compliant with Health & Safety and reporting obligations.
  • Be part of the after hours on-call roster providing guidance to Hall staff and management of critical incidents.
