We are looking for a proven leader with a passion for patient safety to join our team in an exciting role as Deputy head of patient safety. Working closely with the head of patient safety, you will be joining a team with a commitment to improving patient safety through improvements and learning from incidents. This role is key in supporting the delivery of the NHS and UHS patient safety strategy.
You will need to be a registered healthcare professional with experience in governance and/or patient safety and educated to masters level. Experienced in leading and managing teams as well as understanding and delivering quality improvement projects is essential. The role will require attending meetings off-site and flexibility to attend and chair meetings at short notice.

The main focus of the role is to support the Head of patient safety in:

  • Leadership of the patient safety team
  • Implementation and delivery of the patient safety strategy
  • Overseeing the delivery of national and local CQUINs related to preventing avoidable harm
  • Ensuring that there is an open and honest culture and that duty of candour is fulfilled as part of the management of incidents.
  • Ensure Delivery of regulatory compliance, assurance and learning occurs when things go wrong
  • Providing, expert advice on the patient safety agenda in the Trust and making tangible reductions in patient harm
  • Delivering the vision that realises the Trust’s ambition to be a world-class service and secure national renown for improvements in patient safety
  • Overseeing a robust process for the management of patient safety incidents, never events and ensuring that organisational learning occurs as a result.
  • To lead on the day to day support of the quality and patient safety partners
