Description:
DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Ten (10) years of experience in mill maintenance within the mining industry, with at least three(3) years in a supervisory or management role in a remote mine site in Arctic conditions;
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Mineral processing, or relevant industry experience;
- Plant operating experience with the following processes: conventional primary crushing, Leach/ CIP Carousel, Zadra, thickening, and gold refinery;
- Excellent leadership and communication skills;
- Proven ability to analyze data and implement process improvements;
- Strong understanding of the mining industry’s health, safety, and environmental regulations; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SAP.

Responsibilities:
- Champion a safety-first culture by ensuring all Mill department activities are conducted in accordance to B2Gold Nunavut’s Safety policies, regulatory requirements and industry best practices;
- Assist in planning, organizing, and directing the short-term and long-term plans for all Mill department activities;
- Supervise and mentor department staff, assist in disciplinary issues and help write performance evaluations;
- Collaborate with the Mill Manager to develop and implement practical training and line of progression programs for employees;
- Coordinate with the Mill Manager, metallurgist staff, and department employees to improve the plant’s metallurgical performance and optimize process parameters;
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or production; and
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be willing to work flexible hours as needed to support 24/7 operations.
