Description:

H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm seeks Deputy Market Director in our Energy Market. This position will be responsible for supporting the current Market Director and H2M’s Energy Market initiatives. This will include support and activity including networking, business development, client management, program management, staff training and acquisition, resource identification and allocation, as well as strategic and tactical business planning. H2M’s Energy Market consulting activity includes support to electric and gas utilities as well as power generation and delivery developers. We support most energy related sectors including utility operations, T&D, power generation, power delivery, renewable systems, wind energy, and energy storage. Services include architecture, engineering, design, planning, siting, licensing and permitting, regulatory interface, program management, project management, environmental and industrial hygiene. Geographic focus is east coast U.S.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related degree. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years related experience. Experience in consulting, utility or energy development preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of energy and power related principles and practices.
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Strong business development/client management skills coupled with an ability/potential to cultivate existing and new clients and expand business relationships and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff; ability to motivate, grow and engage staff.
  • Prior experience coordinating and writing proposals.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Hard-working self-motivated person with an entrepreneurial spirit.
    The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $180,000 annually.
    The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications – not related to any applicant’s characteristics protected by local, state or federal law. Responsibilities:

Support the Energy Market Director with the ongoing implementation of H2Ms market business plan. The ideal candidate will support all of the following responsibilities.

  • Respond to requests for proposals and term contracts for existing and new clients.
  • Network and engage with existing and prospective energy market clients.
  • Review workload and project schedules in the Energy Market with Project Managers and Department Managers to ensure Market projects are being kept on task.
  • Attend pre-proposal meetings as necessary for prospective projects and opportunities.
  • Attend various functions/seminars/trade shows that relate to the energy market. Focus and dedication on creating relationships and maintaining existing market contacts/relationships.
  • Review, update and utilize the Deltek system regularly for tracking and responding on proposals and leads.
  • Review various publications for potential opportunities and threats in the market.
  • Work with the marketing department to ensure that the energy marketing materials are accurate and relevant. Create relevant articles and media for publication.
  • Attend relevant in-house H2M meetings.
  • Review and control the quality of market proposals prior to delivery.
  • Meet with leaders of the different H2M disciplines and offices to review opportunities for growth in the market.
  • Review staffing and areas of expertise within the firm and determine needs for specific hires for opportunities in the market.
  • Review firms’ teams that have capabilities to assist with market leads; continue to drive and look for additional teaming opportunities.
  • Monitor the financial performance of market projects throughout the year and assess the performance of the market in relation to the goals set in the business plan.
  • Support the development of a market plan for annual forecasting; coordinate expected market revenues with the various disciplines in creating the annual overall business plan.
