Description:
The Parliamentary Service has a unique opportunity for a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as the Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms and Operations Leader. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient coordination of resources, management of staff, and maintenance of security within the parliamentary precinct and electorate offices.
Responsibilities:
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the human, financial, and capital resources within the service area. This includes overseeing a comprehensive staff roster system and administering the issuance and maintenance of uniforms and equipment for all service area personnel.
- Manage the development and coordination of essential training programs for service area staff, including First Aid, Fire Safety, and Floor Warden training.
- Oversee emergency and security procedure training for Parliamentary Service staff.
- Attend major incidents within the parliamentary precinct and, where possible, in electorate offices. Assess the need for State or Civil Authority intervention and ensure all incidents, such as security breaches and first aid cases, are reported and documented appropriately.
- Foster strong relationships with State and Civil Authorities, including the Queensland Police Service and the Queensland Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, to enhance general security and fire safety measures.
- Assist in coordinating security support for Parliamentary Service events, such as the Opening of Parliament, Regional Parliament, and Open Days.
- Perform the ceremonial duties associated with the position of Sergeant-at-Arms in their absence, upholding the traditions and protocols of the Parliament.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE EXPERIENCE IN:
Resource Management: Proven ability to manage resources and coordinate team training and development.
Procedure Development: Ability to develop and review operating procedures and work programs.
Incident Response: Demonstrated ability to handle major incidents calmly.
Customer Service: Strong orientation towards customer service and professional communication.
