Description:

Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, Haematology Day Unit, UHW
Are you a motivated and passionate nurse who is interested in working in an innovative, fast-paced chemotherapy setting? This exciting and dynamic nursing post will support people with haematological conditions from across Mid and South Wales.
If so we’d love to hear from you. This is a unique nursing opportunity to develop clinically, personally and professionally in a forward thinking and motivated environment. We will provide a 4 week supernumerary period and comprehensive training package, supported by our Educational facilitators.
We provide highly specialised care for a wide variety of patient groups within the Haematology Directorate. Staff in this friendly and supportive team develop a wide range of advanced skills and knowledge by rotating between the 3 main areas of Day-care in UHW, UHL and ‘Offsite Nurse-Led Chemotherapy Service’
We care for and deliver treatment to patients with haematological disorders, including patients participating in clinical trials, follow-up and treatments for patients who have undergone high dose chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant.
The post holder will be expected to deputise for the ward manager in her absence to ensure the safe and smooth delivery of the services.
The post holder will act as the deputy to the Haematology Day Unit Sister, regularly taking charge of the clinical area and ensuring that the standards and quality of care given to patients and clients, together with the environment in which care is delivered, are maintained at a high standard.
The post holder will be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and use experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance.
The post holder will work flexibly as a member of the team and in support of the Unit Sister to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
