Description:

Are you a Registered Mental Health Nurse, with an experience of leading and managing a team, or an aspiring leader ready to take on leadership and management responsibilities as well as motivated by the prospect of working with a supportive and dynamic team?
Then, Vaughan Thomas is a place for you!
Vaughan Thomas ward is an 18 bedded ward for those who have acute or severe or enduring mental illnesses, often with co-morbidities, which require treatment which would otherwise not be able to be given in the community.
You will become part of a dynamic team for male patients requiring assessment, care and nursing interventions, within an environment that is fast paced, dynamic and high in engagement.
We have strengthened our nurse leadership, have clear and exciting nursing pathways with training and development to support aspirations alongside a range of pathways to choose and you will have access to training at Masters level.
What can you expect from us?
You will have a structured induction and ongoing support from managers and senior clinicians. We understand everyone has different commitments outside of work, so can offer flexibility around working hours and patterns.
We need your skills to support service users and to guide staff in planning care, monitoring risk and developing safe systems of working.
Our practice is guided by compassion, kindness and patience; and you will have a critical role in supporting this.
Particularly important to us is the respect for diversity, psychological safety and environmental safety, for which your contribution will be greatly valued by the MDT and service users. By adopting a QI methodology, you and the team will bring new and innovative ideas to this very special area of care.
Everyday Leadership also requires you to support a trauma informed approach to care planning. This offers a great opportunity to guide and teach the team and students to understand the importance of recognising the person in your care and managing the distress of that individual in a humanistic and least restrictive way.
This is an incredible opportunity for personal development and to influence a fresh approach to acute psychiatric care. It is a really exciting time to join us
You will need to demonstrate a range of skills including the following
Effective leadership
Crisis management
Discharge planning and coordination
Staff supervision and appraisals,
Rota management.
Effective communication, integrity, empathy, self-awareness, compassion and critical self-reflection.
Clinical skills which reflect your understanding of the Mental Health Act and the frameworks, policies and procedures governing our service.
