CitiPower and Powercor Australia are electricity distributors and supply power to more than one million Victorians. We own and manage the technology - poles, wires, meters, and distributed technologies that deliver electricity to homes and businesses within Melbourne’s CBD, its suburbs and across central and western Victoria
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will support the development of new DSO solutions and operationalise them in our businesses.
You will also be responsible for supporting the development and embedding capabilities in the operation of DSO systems, responsible for monitoring, optimising, and addressing compliance of DER and flexible services, network control schemes and other technologies to ensure network and system security are managed within operational limits.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the development of CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy operational procedure.
- Undertake system security preparedness
- Support performance validation activities of DER connections before enrolling in DSO systems.
- Test and onboard new DER customer technologies.
- Support the operational capability for scenario-based planning, curtailment estimation, short-term demand forecasting (1d-7d) and security compliance assessment.
- Support the operational capability for day-to-day monitoring of DER, Dynamic Operating Envelopes (DOE’s), Flexibility services, network control schemes and others as our DSO role expands.
- Review DER’s, DOE’s, flexibility services and network control schemes as required.
- Identify opportunities for improvements related to DER performance or DSO systems and recommend changes.
- Work closely with other internal teams as required.
- Periodic reporting on efficacy of initiatives to address short-term network and system deficiencies.
- Identify opportunities for improvements to processes, procedures and work instructions (continuous improvement)
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL HAVE:
- Degree qualification in Electrical, Communication or Software Engineering.
- Member of the National Engineering Register.
- Sound engineering knowledge of electrical distribution network.
- Knowledge of DER technical standards (AS4777, Generation Connection Guidelines etc).
- An understanding of distribution connection processes for generation and load.
- Strong data analytical skills through data manipulation and processing from databases and spreadsheets
- Interest or knowledge of electrical distribution applications in the following:
- The art of storey telling using large data sets with Tableau and/or Power BI
- Knowledge of CSIP-AUS communication protocol
- Previous experience with DER and new and emerging technologies is desirable.
- Proven interpersonal skills to successfully work in a close team environment and to build good working relationships with both internal and external organisations.
- Working with continuous improvement frameworks to deliver improved productivity, efficiency and quality outcomes.
