Design Engineer – Building & Infrastructure

TOBIN has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer to join our Building & Infrastructure Division, specifically working within the sub-division of Health, Safety and Technical Advisory Services.
This role can be based in any of our office locations (Limerick, Galway, Sligo, Dublin, Castlebar) on a hybrid working arrangement.
Duties and Responsibilities:

As a member of a team within a TOBIN department and through mentoring with senior members of staff within TOBIN, the Design Engineer will be required to undertake the following duties:

• Manage Design teams including external consultants; to deliver designs and tender documents.
• Review documents and designs prepared by Graduate Engineers and other consultants.
• Preparation and review of preliminary designs and reports using a variety of computer packages and subsequent preparation of detailed design drawings and specifications.
• With the assistance of our Project Managers, prepare tender documents and complete tender assessments.
• With the assistance of our Project Managers, Administration of construction contracts to ensure that design requirements, project schedules and project budget are achieved.

• Take instruction from their Line Manager (and where appropriate the relevant Project Manager and senior members of the project teams).

  The Skills Required of a Design Engineer:

• Ideally, 1- 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

• Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2D
• Capability to develop skills in the use of other software packages such as MicroDrainage Microsoft Access and GIS software packages such as ArcGIS and MapInfo.
• Working knowledge of construction contracts such as the PWMF Forms of Contract., Irish Building Regulations, BCAR etc

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Full Driver`s Licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Preferably worked in Irish Construction Industry
