Job Summary:
As a Design Engineer at Fiskars Group, your primary responsibility will be developing innovative new consumer products from concept to production. You are expected to be able to utilize your experience in new product development to complete complex tasks with limited supervision or instructions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Creative Design: Develop cutting-edge products using conceptual design and 3D CAD modeling with limited supervision. Bring your ideas to life through prototyping and design validation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, industrial designers, product managers, brand & marketing, sourcing, and manufacturing teams to ensure our products meet the highest standards.
  • Global Impact: Communicate with Fiskars Group factories, sourcing offices, and suppliers worldwide to ensure product requirements are met and quality is maintained.
  • Innovation Focus: Participate in consumer insight research, translate observations into concept sketches, and analyze competing products and technologies to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Cost Optimization: Support our Operations group in identifying cost reduction opportunities and making necessary changes to technical specifications.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: MSc/BSc degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years in product development, with a strong focus on mechanical design tasks.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks preferred), and a solid understanding of plastic and metal parts manufacturing technologies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English. Ability to effectively convey design proposals through 2D/3D visualizations and prototypes.
  • Innovative Mindset: Strong ideation and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for innovation.
