JOB SUMMARY

You will be responsible for carrying out a broad scope of complex engineering tasks including designing tooling, products, jigging & fixtures whilst maintaining the applicable documentation and adherence to global NPI process.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Ideally at least 3 Years experience in a design based role in an NPI or Value Engineering function, and knowledge/background in tooling design would be advantageous but not essential
  • Typically, have gained experience through either apprenticeship or higher education, i.e.HNC, degree, masters
  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD packages such as Creo/Solidworks/NX
  • Knowledge of Vacuum/Thermoforming, Machining and non-ferrous casting processes would be advantageous

Responsibilities:

  • Meaningfully contribute in group discussions and problem solving sessions
  • Own work packages and projects, across NPDI and Continuous Improvement ensuring Kohler’s global NPDI processes are adhered to
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
  • Use formal technical processes such as Process Mapping, DFMEA, FEA PFMEA & Control Plan sessions and subsequent testing scenarios
  • Development of design solutions for specified projects and operating without the need for technical supervision. Responsible for delivering technical solutions meeting the business requirements for time, cost, and quality.
  • Definition of design solutions using tools available including 2D / 3D CAD.
  • Own the evaluation and testing of design solutions and competitors’ products, reporting findings, and making recommendations
  • Supporting innovation within the Trays and Baths category in terms of materials and processes by research of relevant technical developments from various sources including: WWW, technical literature, suppliers, standards authorities etc.
