QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in 3D CAD modeling and design.
  • Experience with PTC CREO software is highly desirable.
  • CAD data management experience using PTC Windchill software is desirable.
  • Experience in a design role within a project engineering environment is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management, especially using Atlassian Jira software, is desirable.
  • Experience in a transport industry-related design role is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Australian Design Rules and AS/NZS standards is desirable.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Are you passionate about mechanical design and eager to work on cutting-edge truck installations? We are seeking a skilled full time permanent Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing components that meet the highest standards of quality, cost-effectiveness, and functionality. Your expertise will be crucial in creating innovative solutions for complex packaging areas, managing the lifecycle of designed parts, and ensuring seamless integration into the production line and long-term maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop manufacturing and aftermarket-friendly 3D CAD mechanical design solutions, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure all design outputs meet QDCF (Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Feature) requirements for projects, PILs, and PIL-CPIs.
  • Investigate and resolve component or design issues identified during the assembly process.
  • Contribute to quality improvement for components or designs based on field issue reports.
  • Drive communication and validation activities within a cross-functional team, including Engineers, Production staff, Purchasing, Aftermarket, and Brand representatives.
  • Perform 3D geometrical assurance, packaging, space claiming, and interface management.
  • Create 3D CAD models documenting installations and systems, complete with mechanical components, hardware, and interfaces.
  • Provide engineering drawings and documentation for the release of parts in product documentation systems.
  • Support design projects with input on content, timelines, resources, and validation requirements.
  • Monitor, maintain, and report KPIs and planning metrics.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve product cost, quality, performance, and features.
  • Provide mechanical support as needed, including material, environmental, and method builds.
  • Maintain a high level of technical, product, and application knowledge.
