We are seeking a seasoned Design Lead with over 10 years of experience in designing and building accessible web applications. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a deep understanding of accessibility standards and a passion for creating user-centric designs that cater to diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and Mentor: Guide a team of designers to develop intuitive and accessible web applications, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Accessibility Champion: Advocate for accessibility best practices throughout the design and development process.
- Advocates for thoughtful design activities, specifically generative and evaluative user research. Advocates that it is prioritized, completed, and communicated across the cross-functional product team.
- Design Strategy: Develop and implement design strategies that prioritize usability and accessibility, aligning with business goals and user needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and QA specialists, to ensure design feasibility and fidelity.
- User Research: Conduct user research to inform design decisions and enhance user experience.
- Design Systems: Create and maintain comprehensive design systems and style guides that ensure consistency and accessibility across all web platforms.
- Stay Current: Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in web design and accessibility.
- Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to align and prioritize experience heuristics, gestalt, and ensure user needs are prioritized appropriately.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years in web design with a strong focus on accessibility; at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) and a solid understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Knowledgeable in Design Thinking methods and framework.
- Clear understanding of fundamental design principles.
- Strong understanding of usability heuristics and user-centered design practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- A strong portfolio is showcasing web application design projects and a user-centred design approach.
