Overview:
Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Design Manager III to support the Education Sector. The selected candidate will join our team of 40+ planners, architects, engineers, and other technical professionals to plan & design our next wave of capital investments, including airfield improvements, terminal improvements, infrastructure improvements, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a multi-disciplined team of planners, architects, engineers, and other professionals to guide the planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, and activation of various airport capital improvement project
- Coordinate with Clients & Stakeholders to develop a Business Case for potential Capital Projects
- Develop and present preliminary design-alternatives and comparative-analysis to address requests and/or concerns from LAWA leadership and/or project stakeholders throughout the planning & design process
- Review planning & design submittals for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to the applicable project requirements, and provide meaningful & constructive feedback to the planning & design team. This may include reviewing & commenting on conformance to applicable codes & regulations, industry standards, and unique owner performance requirements.
- Solicit feedback from internal and external project stakeholders, and guide design teams through competing interests and projects constraints to ensure the best possible outcomes with respect to quality, cost, schedule, sustainability, resiliency, innovation, user-experience, constructability, operational flexibility, maintainability, etc.
- Manage planning & design efforts throughout all stages of a project (Project Definition, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Construction Administration) to ensure that projects fulfill their mission, while remaining on-schedule and on-budget.
- Facilitate smooth transitions as projects advance from planning through design, procurement, construction, and activation.
- Manage design efforts across multiple projects to ensure a cohesive architectural statement and user-experience throughout the LAX campus.
Qualifications:
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE LEVEL/OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 15+ Years of Professional Experience, preferably on large complex airport capital projects
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, and/or related field
- Licensed Architect or Engineer is desirable. (but not required)
- Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI, etc.)
- Familiar with Planning & Design Software (AutoDesk, Sketchup, etc.)
- Optional Certifications such as AAAE, CASp, LEED, PMP, etc. are desirable Experience.
- Experience with preparing Planning Documents and Preliminary Design Packages for Capital Projects. (i.e. Business Case, Alternatives Analysis, Project Definition Books, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Technical Performance-Criteria, etc.)
- Experience with preparing comprehensive Design & Construction Documents (Design Development, Bidding & Procurement Documents, Plan-Check & Permit Submittals, Construction Documents, RFI & Submittal Reviews, Record Documents, etc.)
- Experience with Alternative Delivery Methods. (Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, etc.)
- Experience with Aviation and the associated Regulatory Agencies. (CBP, DHS, FAA, TSA, etc.)
- Experience with Plan-Check and Permitting. (preferably in Los Angeles)
- Familiarity with the Planning, Design, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance of Airport Facilities. (Terminals, Roadways, Runways, Infrastructure, etc.)
Salary range: $130,000 to $165,000 per year.
Location: Los Angeles, CA. This role is 100 percent onsite.
