Description:
We have an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager to join our team aligned with a flagship £60M new build project in Chester.
Location: Chester / Liverpool - Hybrid Site/ Office / Home
Our North West business has an exceptional track record in the delivery of Dfe projects, building high spec, energy efficient education spaces across the region as a trusted contractor and key partner to the Department For Education.
Responsibilities:
WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
As Design Manager you will be a key part of the project team, working closely with project lead at pre construction and throughout delivery.
There is no such thing as a “typical” day in Construction however your day to day duties may include, but not be limited to :
- Responsibility for the management and delivery of design information in accordance with the agreed design programme and deliverable schedule.
- Ensuring that our appointed design consultants carry out their duties in line with their appointment, interrogating returns to ensure compliance with standards and brief.
- Design input at both preconstruction and construction stage of projects.
- Assessing, mitigating and managing risks connected with design
- ensuring designs and design work meets health and safety legislation, sustainable building standards (such as BREEAM – the Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method) and industry codes of practice
- chairing design meetings, writing reports and giving presentations.
- The production of design programmes, design scopes, design responsibility matrices, appointments, schedules.
- Record progress and carry out upline reporting,
- Attending/chair necessary meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensuring that the design is compliant to relevant legislation and technical requirements.
This role of Design Manager is great for you if you can demonstrate:
- Experience in Design Management of Dfe projects (essential)
- Demonstrable experience in a design role within a main contractor environment or within Architectural Practice focussed on project delivery phase.
- Experience of BIM level 2 projects
- Comfort in use of REVIT Autodesk, BIM 360 and MS Projec
