About the role…
As a Design –Planner within our internal design team, you’ll play a pivotal role in both framework-level programme management and design-specific project planning.
Working closely with the design lead, project manager and commercial team you will be integral in shaping the design phase of the planned capital works programmes across a specific or multiple frameworks. You’ll help develop detailed design schedules, collaborating across multiple teams to deliver successful design outcomes on a range of projects and/or a programme of projects.

What will your day look like…

  • Develop logic linked programmes for ECI, outline and detailed design programmes.
  • Produce programmes, reports and / or extract schedules using customised filters as required by the design team, including indication of deviation from the baseline programme.
  • Collaborate with design departments to develop both short- and long-term project plans, monitoring progress and ensuring that design milestones align with broader project objectives.
  • Work closely with design leads and project managers to set performance objectives and implement monitoring systems to measure design outcomes.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including strategic design partners, to align design plans with broader project objectives.
  • Organise and lead design review meetings with key stakeholders, fostering productive discussions to refine and enhance design solutions.
  • Assist in managing design budgets, tracking expenses, and making recommendations to optimise resource allocation.
  • Identify, communicate and add key programme risks to the risk register.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal client discussions on design elements, managing expectations and delivering clear updates on project progress.
  • Formally issue programme updates to the client as required by the contract.

About you…

  • Proficiency in using planning and scheduling software, such as Microsoft Project.
  • Degree qualified in the Engineering field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including strategic design partners and clients.
  • Understanding of design processes within the utilities sector, including knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Be able to estimate working hours required at the beginning of a job and build cost plans.
  • A team player and communicator who is able to work on his or her own initiative.
  • Willing to travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Must have a driving license.
