About the role…
We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join our UK design team. As a Project Manager you will be responsible for delivering a variety of water industry projects as part of, and leading a multi-disciplinary design team. Operating under hybrid working arrangements, much of your time will be spent working in your own space, though we do require that you are available to work in person with the other discipline team members in your assigned office as and when the situation dictates. Generally, this will be in the order of 2/3 days per week.
Projects will typically include water and wastewater; infrastructure and non-infrastructure works design. This will include managing the design delivery at all stages, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for construction, determining the best solutions and the production of design packages.
Duties will typically include leading projects / packages of work, managing a multi-disciplined design team, programming and financial management of the design phase as well as undertaking site visits, leading Client and internal design and progress meetings and ensuring health and safety is considered at all times.
The position is required to support our expanding Water Utilities workload and will typically involve providing designs for water and wastewater; infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects. This will include design delivery at all stages, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed designs for construction, and commissioning. The specific role is required primarily to support our design team in Brighouse working on the Severn Trent Framework as well as with other Clients such as United Utilities.
This is a permanent position and will be of a hybrid nature we are open to receiving applications from candidates from across the UK to be based at one of our other regional offices or on a remote basis.

What will your day look like…

  • Ensure that health and safety in design development is at the forefront of our work
  • Manage design development in accordance with the Client’s requirements and relevant design standards to achieve cost effective solutions.
  • Undertake supervision of junior design team members to help ensure timely project delivery is achieved within budget and in accordance with the Specification.
  • Preparation and monitoring of the budget for projects including the planning, monitoring, and reporting of project resources and finances.
  • Oversee the development of engineering solutions and presentation of engineering options on a project-by-project basis
  • Ensure the relevant designs comply with the requirements of the companies Integrated Management System including Health & Safety, Environmental and all other appropriate regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and tendering opportunities to further develop the companies future workload and growth

About you…

  • Strong technical background in the design and project management of Water / Wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure works
  • Degree in relevant qualification and holder of/progressing towards professional accreditation.
  • Computer literate and conversant with the MS Office suite with a basic knowledge of engineering packages such as AutoCAD
  • Strong written and oral communication and organisational skills and to produce reports in clear concise English
  • Proven ability to lead and work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines
  • Client focused approach to service delivery
  • Self-motivated with the drive to achieve continuous improvement targets
  • Strong Health and Safety focus
