Description:
Aztec West, Bristol - with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office.
Are you an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in nuclear design processes? Do you have excellent communication skills and a solution-focused approach to overcoming technical challenges? Are you the type of person who likes a fast-paced environment where every day presents new challenges and opportunities to excel? If so, come and join EDF as a Design Replication Lead!
WHO YOU ARE
You will have a strong technical background and a solid understanding of nuclear reactor design processes across multiple engineering disciplines. You’ll need an engineering degree or equivalent experience, along with a proven track record of holding at least two technical roles in nuclear engineering. Your ability to apply this technical knowledge across complex design environments will be critical to ensuring successful replication of HPC designs.
You’ll demonstrate excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across transverse teams and navigate complex stakeholder environments. A pragmatic, solution-focused approach is essential when addressing technical challenges, and you’ll be expected to offer practical, well-informed recommendations to support the design replication process.
We’re looking for someone who can build strong, collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, maintaining high standards of safety and quality throughout.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
Closing date for applications: 5th February 2025
Responsibilities:
You will take the lead in monitoring design changes from both the HPC Responsible Designer (RD) back office and the Joint Design Office (JDO), collaborating with Heads of Branch and Engineering to address any challenges to the replication process. This includes attending Configuration Management forums and committees led by HPC RD, JDO, and Plant Integration Services, where you’ll assess the impact of proposed changes on SZC replication alongside technical departments.
A key part of your role will be reinforcing the change process to ensure it aligns with the SZC replication strategy, with relevant tags applied to track design changes. You will also support technical teams in the Design Replication Justification process by managing and reporting on HPC design changes, Open Points, and Technical Design Interfaces, helping to ensure replication bundles are properly initiated.
In addition, you will be responsible for capturing and integrating lessons learned (OPEX) from HPC and other EPR projects into SZC processes. Working closely with the Configuration Manager, you will help drive design stability to maximise replication opportunities and achieve next-of-a-kind efficiencies across the project.
