Overview of Role
The Senior Engineer focuses on designing new products and design processes as part of several product development teams at our Technology Development Center located at our St. Louis, Missouri headquarters. They identify opportunities for new products or processes, work independently or in teams under general direction or minimum supervision, and solve very complex problems with occasional assistance from peers and/or technical leaders. The role involves directing and monitoring the work of less experienced employees, providing input for project team member performance reviews, and encouraging and assisting less experienced engineers with knowledge capture. The Senior Engineer models desired Watlow Way and lean product development values, principles, and behaviors, and leads major projects or several smaller projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. degree in an engineering in Mechanical or Electrical or Two-year degree and 5-8 years of related engineering or equivalent experience in 2D drawings and 3D modelling.
  • Proven, high-level experience in SolidWorks architecture, design, and development.
  • Created models and assemblies, familiarity with the Configuration manager for parts and assemblies
  • Created sheet metal parts and drawings with proper Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and weld cut lists or BOMs
  • Created and edited part and drawing templates
  • Familiarity with the Properties Manager and PDMWorks Enterprise is preferred
  • Experience in drawing & documents updates, checking in, checking out process.
  • Experience is standardization of drawings, documents preferred
  • Proficiency in Stack up analysis for sub-assemblies is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Design standardization of drawing templates to include notes, change column, materials specifications, projection method, and reference axis
  • Implementation of system for offline/non-released drawings to have a watermark indicated proper “preliminary” or “non-released” status
  • Update SolidWorks best practices with alignment across the organization and training to improve SolidWorks competencies at various locations
  • Work effectively with cross functional team members to lead the drawing standardization initiatives
  • Lead biweekly updates meeting which includes leaders of concerned functions.
  • Generate standardized work documents that explain the process flow.
  • Lead enterprise level initiatives for drawing standardization.
  • Support modelling and drawings for critical projects in SolidWorks
