Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a creative, bright, and dynamic individual to join our Marketing Team as a Design Specialist. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the Design Specialist is responsible for delivering creative and effective marketing solutions. They should be comfortable creating, developing and implementing design solutions for internal clients across the organization, including OREA departments, committees/task forces, and other stakeholders as required. This position plays an important role in maintaining brand integrity across all facets of the Association. Both graphic and video design experience are required to excel in this role.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- A certificate or university degree, preferably in design, marketing, or equivalent education in a related field.
- Minimum three years design experience.
- Marketing agency experience is considered an asset.
- Portfolio submission is considered a strong asset.
- Advanced knowledge of Creative Cloud Suite, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver.
- Advanced desktop publishing, graphic design, and typographic skills.
- Advanced knowledge of print production process.
- Extensive knowledge of design principles, elements, and techniques such as colour theory, layout, composition, hierarchy, contrast, and balance.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Design & Brand Management:
- Planning, managing and executing both graphic and video design requests as assigned.
- Working with internal clients to understand their needs and develop design concepts that provide creative solutions.
- Adapting designs for various formats, including social media, email, website, virtual and in-person event signage, and more.
- Managing consultants, partners, vendors and suppliers in relation to areas such as design, printing, filming, etc.
- Act as steward of the OREA brand and ensure brand consistency across all visual media.
- Managing outsourced design work with approved vendors when required.
- Manage OREA image libraries.
Trade Shows & Events:
- Assisting with the strategic vision of OREA tradeshow presence and overseeing creation of physical assets.
- Assisting in planning the member experience and user journey for all in-person events.
Market/Competitor Research:
- Staying on top of industry trends and make recommendations around implementation of new strategies where applicable.
