EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Part A pharmacist registration with the OCP.
- CAMH Opioid Dependence Treatment Certification (or expected).
- Experience using Kroll Pharmacy Software an asset.
- Previous management experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Pharmacy Manager (PM) provides leadership to a team of pharmacy professionals including but not limited to Pharmacists, Registered Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. The PM is accountable for the operational success of their pharmacy and its impact on CATC’s clinic and pharmacy network.
JOB DUTIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Fulfill the role of a Designated Manager as outlined by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) in The Role of the Designated Manager.
- Adhere to the NAPRA Model Standards of Practice for Canadian Pharmacists and OCP standards of practice, including but not limited to, all Federal and Provincial laws, regulations, and by-laws governing Pharmacy (e.g., audits, privacy, documentation, signage, billing, and reporting).
- Ensure that patient care is provided according to evidence-based practices, which includes creating and maintaining a patient focused environment that:
- Ensures respect for all patients and their unique needs.
- Responds effectively to referrals from CATC clinics and community partners.
- Ensures all patients follow CATP/CATC clinic and pharmacy guidelines for program participation.
- Continuously evaluate the delivery of patient care services within the pharmacy through a quality improvement process, during which errors are detected and corrected and practice improvements are initiated, to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the preparation of all patient prescriptions.
- Establish, foster, and maintain good relationships with CATC physicians and clinic staff to provide optimal patient care and encourage patient acquisition and retention.
- Plan and participate in clinical and community initiatives developed by CATP/CATC in order to provide the best possible patient care and position CATP/CATC as a first-class provider of addiction treatment services.
- Ensure CATP/CATC policies, procedures, and best practices are implemented and respected by all employees.
- Provide adequate training and supervision of pharmacy staff, ensuring all staff adhere to professional and legal requirements.
- Ensure policies and procedures related to maintaining safe and effective medication procurement, inventory management, security and protection of controlled and targeted substances, and appropriate record keeping are followed at all times.
- Ensure all prescriptions are processed and billed in accordance with CATP policies and compliant with third party payer provider agreements.
