In 2002, Kari Traa won Olympic gold in Salt Lake City, cementing her position as a world-class freestyle skier. But she couldn’t find world-class sportswear made for women. So, she decided to make it herself. The Kari Traa brand was born.

WHAT WE SEEK

We’re looking for a passionate designer to join our team, creating high-quality, sustainable products that meet the needs of our female consumers. The ideal candidate has a talent for translating design concepts into practical, commercially viable garments, with a keen eye for color and the ability to create fun, modern designs inspired by Norwegian heritage. As a Designer at Kari Traa you’ll have the opportunity to work with the Scandinavian leading basleayer brand and its colourful, quality products with a goal to reach of 1 million women in an international market.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience as commercial designer.
  • Solid understanding of large-scale manufacturing processes.
  • Deep understanding of fabrics, textiles, and materials used in apparel production
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Print and graphic design capabilities an asset.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel and PLM systems.
  • Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written).

Responsibilities:

  • Design seasonal collections for a global market while focusing on building a strong brand identity with Norwegian roots
  • Design to our core consumer and brand strategy
  • Design products for all categories according to brand guidelines, briefs, and strategy. (baselayers, midlayers, outerwear, accessories, etc)
  • Create mood boards and gather inspirational material
  • Research trends and technologies, and conduct market research
  • Develop seasonal colour pallets and keep up to date with colour trends
  • Create original graphics and prints and/or briefs for graphic designers
  • Design trims and logo applications
  • Fabric and trim selection and development
  • Create and maintain seasonal colour card
  • Prepare prints and graphics for production
  • Create design presentations
  • Responsible for spec file delivery on dedicated styles according to design process. From idea to hand off spec.
  • Attend fit session with support from senior designer or head of design and work closely with the product development team to ensure that designs are feasible and can be produced within manufacturing constraints.
  • Contribute on dedicated projects given by head of design.
  • Present design collections and participate in product presentations on a seasonal basis
  • Travel to suppliers and key markets on request
