Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing administrative and operational support to Royal Canadian Mounted Police personnel, and information and customer services to the public.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

· Excellent communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
· Experience working in high pressure environments and with competing priorities.
· Ability to remain calm and deal effectively in highly stressful situations with individuals who may be experiencing a crisis.
· Knowledge of relevant related legislation, policies, guidelines, and procedures.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

· Minimum Grade 12 education and successful completion of post-secondary school in office and/or business administration or equivalent combination of formal training and experience.
· Software knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic mail systems.
· Experience maintaining electronic and/or hard copy filing systems.
· Experience working with highly sensitive and confidential information.
· Demonstrated ability to independently establish priorities and proceed with objectives.
· Proficiency in the English language is required (bilingual preferred).
· Working knowledge of the criminal code, municipal government administration, municipal by-laws, and relevant provincial and federal legislation preferred.

RELATED EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of two (2) years related experience.

Responsibilities:

· Responds to enquiries, complaints, and requests for information and services from the public.
· Review, develop, recommend and implement changes to internal procedures to enhance the delivery of administrative and operational support activities within the Detachment.
· Provide a court liaison and administrative service i.e., research files and records, compile court briefs, transcribe statements, arrange court dates, communicate with legal professionals, attend court, swear to information, and may provide a Commissioner of Oaths and Affidavit service.
· Resolves public and internal complaints through mediation, communication, and critical thinking.
· Provides administrative support to frontline police officers.
· Operates police radio and various computer equipment using Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS), Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), TEAM, JEIN, etc.
· Select and relay pertinent information from data banks and background from files to
police officers using a police radio, and action requests for additional back-up and/or
assistance.
· Respond to emergency calls, record information on the details of the complaint, and
notify/dispatch appropriate responder(s).
· Other duties as may be assigned by the Detachment Sergeant.
· The successful candidate will require a Reliability Status security clearance.
