OVERVIEW:

Flare is a leader in applying advanced data science to cybercrime and cyber threat intelligence data. We help companies leverage data from the criminal underworld to prevent data breaches, improve their security posture, and defeat fraud and abuse.
We are seeking a skilled senior developer to support our research function at Flare. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity and software development, with a passion for exploring cybercrime and threat intelligence. This role focuses on prototyping and ingesting new data sources to support our cutting-edge research initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: Strong background in software development with a focus on cybersecurity applications.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Experience with AWS microservices, Docker, Javascript/Typescript and Terraform
  • Familiarity with data science concepts and tools (e.g.,JupyterLab, TensorFlow, SciKit-learn)
  • Understanding of AI and language models
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Cybersecurity Knowledge: Mandatory experience in cybersecurity; CTF/hacking enthusiast preferred.
  • Independence: Ability to work autonomously and take initiative on projects.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable in a rapidly changing environment with evolving priorities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with TensorFlow, SciKit-learn, or other data science libraries
  • Participation in CTF competitions or bug bounty programs
  • Contributions to open-source cybersecurity tools or research

Responsibilities:

  • Research Focused: Work closely with the research team to prototype and implement tools for ingesting and analyzing new data sources from the cybercrime ecosystem and broader Internet
  • Prototyping: Rapidly develop and iterate on proof-of-concept solutions to address emerging research needs.
  • Data Source Integration: Design and implement systems to ingest and process various cybersecurity and threat intelligence data sources.
  • Tool Development: Create custom tools and scripts to support threat intelligence research activities.
  • Context Switching: Efficiently manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest trends in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, and relevant technologies.
