Description:

We are pleased to announce the relocation of our corporate headquarters to Greenway Plaza’s Phoenix Tower in Houston’s Upper Kirby neighborhood.
The Development Accountant works within the Accounting department to assist with the recording, analysis, and communication of the financial results of the Company. Primary responsibilities include recording development invoices, tracking municipal utility district reimbursables, assisting with the lot acquisition process, and assisting with monthly compliance reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree in accounting preferred.
  • At least 1 year of relevant accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience working in MS Dynamics 365 preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including a advanced knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage development project budgets, ledgers, and accounts, including processing and coding invoices to ensure alignment with project budgets, preparing journal entries for financial transactions such as land acquisitions, development costs, and accruals, and tracking and analyzing all project costs related to land acquisition, development, and capital expenditures. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and variance analysis, and maintain consistent communication with land development teams to ensure accurate financial records and reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules and reports to track, analyze, and communicate financial activity, including lot and land development costs and costs subject to reimbursement. Ensure accurate reporting of all costs, including capitalization of project costs and revenue recognition, in compliance with GAAP. Compile financial reports and project financial statements for internal stakeholders, lenders, and investors.
  • Assist in creating project budgets and forecasts in collaboration with land development and finance teams, updating budgets based on project progress and actuals, and monitoring budget versus actuals to ensure accurate budgeting and real-time accounting of development spending. Provide forecasts to support financial planning.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing project-level financial information, assisting with audit requests and maintaining organized records. Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
  • Track and manage development project loans and financing, including interest calculations and payment schedules, while assisting with project-level financing documentation and maintaining accurate records of financing costs and distributions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
