Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Conservation Partnerships (DOCP), the Development Coordinator’s (DC) primary responsibility will be to play a vital role in supporting our communications and fundraising administrative needs. Based in Winnipeg this is a full-time (24-month term) position which offers a flexible work environment, while supporting a dynamic team and dedicated donors all working hard to protect Manitoba’s natural habitats.

  • Assist in the:

o Development and implementation of fundraising strategies including Annual Giving Campaign, Major Gifts, and Planned Giving Program.
o Production of a regular Donor Newsletter.
o Gathering data and preparing reports to funders.

o Prospect research and donor qualification.

  • Maintain and update the donor database (CRM), ensuring accurate and up-to-date information regarding donors and contributions.
  • Process incoming donations, ensuring that details are correctly recorded, reconciled, and work with the accounting team in the distribution of tax receipts.
  • Generate donor and fundraising reports for internal review, campaign analysis, and presentations.
  • Provide administrative support to the fund development team by assisting with scheduling meetings, preparing presentations, and coordinating communications.
  • Coordinate donor stewardship and cultivation strategies, including acknowledgement communications, case for support development, impact reporting, and communicating with donors as needed.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of fund development activities, processes and results for effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Program Development Specialist to support the grant application process by maintaining a calendar of grant deadlines, ensuring timely submission of applications, and organizing all relevant documentation.
  • Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other fundraising materials that effectively communicate MHC’s objectives, activities, and impact to potential funders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

YOU AND YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong administration and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain donor relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and contact relationship databases (CRMs) like Salesforce, with strong data management and reporting skills.
  • Attention to detail for accurate record-keeping, reporting, and donor acknowledgment.
  • Experience coordinating fundraising strategies, campaigns, or donor outreach efforts.
  • Creativity and initiative to identify new fundraising opportunities and improve existing strategies.
  • A post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g. Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Environment etc.).
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in grant writing or fundraising for nonprofit organizations.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals and other written materials.
  • Excellent written and oral communications abilities, including experience writing grant proposals, project proposals and related reports.
  • General understanding of non-profit fundraising and delivery of conservation programs.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Experience working in a team environment and communicating goals and objectives.
