Description:
About the role
The Development Management Officer, Specialist and Strategic post is an opportunity to be involved in the determination of planning applications for mineral and waste development, which provide the materials for growth, and help deliver sustainable waste management, some of which will require an Environmental Impact Assessment.
Alongside this you will also handle applications for the County Council’s own development, which includes infrastructure in new major development areas and settlements and projects delivered by the Greater Cambridge Partnership. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to the Council’s formal responses to proposals for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and provide advice from a planning perspective.
The role will require you to have significant experience of handling complex development management at a senior level, and you will have excellent communication, time management and negotiation skills as well a sound background in report writing and presentations, including at Planning Committee. You need to be able to successfully liaise with a variety of customers and internal and external stakeholders as you provide professional and technical advice to discharge the Council’s responsibilities with regard to minerals and waste planning applications.
If you would like to discuss this post informally, please telephone Deborah Jeakins on 07468 719657.
