Primary Function: New America seeks a dedicated Development Manager to join our team and spearhead our prospecting efforts, playing a pivotal role in expanding our fundraising capabilities. This position will also support the fundraising team and manage special projects. The ideal candidate will be adept at identifying and engaging potential donors, using innovative strategies to build and maintain a robust donor pipeline, and contributing to the overall success of our development goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in fundraising or development, with a proven track record in donor prospecting and relationship management.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in CRM software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    Location: New America’s Washington D.C. offices (Hybrid mode work schedule)
    Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time role with benefits. The annual salary will be between $75,570.00 and $94,463.00, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Donor Prospecting:
  • Lead the strategic identification and engagement of potential donors, focusing on cultivating relationships that can significantly contribute to the organization’s financial goals
  • Utilize advanced prospecting tools and techniques to continuously expand the donor pipeline, ensuring a diverse and sustainable funding base.
  • Analyze market trends and donor data to identify untapped opportunities and refine prospecting strategies. Maintain heat maps to highlight areas of opportunity and highlight donor footprint.
  • Fundraising Team Support:
  • Assist the fundraising team by providing support in developing and implementing fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure alignment of efforts and optimize the effectiveness of fundraising strategies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals, reports, and fundraising collateral as needed.
  • Management of Special Projects:
  • Take the lead on special projects as assigned, which may include events, mid-year/end of year campaigns, or new initiatives aimed at enhancing donor engagement and contributions.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate projects with a focus on innovation and impact, ensuring they align with New America’s goals and objectives.
  • Reporting and Communication:
  • Regularly track and report on progress towards prospecting goals, providing insights and updates to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with all team members and departments involved in development activities.
  • Training and Development:
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising and prospecting.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
