Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Development Officer will act as a welcoming person who puts others at ease and encourages their engagement and connection to LSS, and their support of it. This successful candidate will work as a highly motivated, hospitality-minded individual, comfortable taking a leadership role in the flow of prospects and donors in the development process, especially attending to stewardship of donors. The position is a member of the advancement team and reports directly to the Chief Advancement Officer.

  • Identify donor prospects from research with DonorSearch and other technology using Artificial Intelligence along with other means of unearthing giving potential.
  • Create and implement development processes that move through engaging the prospect, cultivating the donor, stewarding the gifts, and inviting the retained donor to be part of the effort, not just a supporter of it.
  • Lead the development process in connection with events, major and small. For majors, coordinate with contract services if necessary for the event and direct the extended, preliminary and following, development engagement. For small events, execute the entirety of planning and implementing the event along with all appropriate development process surrounding it.
  • Working through development, collaborate with the marketing/communications department to create collateral material to meet event needs and sponsor requirements.
  • Update the donor database to reflect interactions with donors, participants, and volunteers, regarding communications sent and received and commitments set.
  • Assist in planning, coordination, and scheduling of donor meetings with CEO and/or Chief Advancement Officer.
  • For social media engagement, follow up with people who respond to social.
  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner and perform all other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Degree from four-year accredited college and 3+ years’ experience in a role focused in fundraising.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods and may be required to stand for an extended period. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position is required to work some evenings and occasional weekends.
