HELPFUL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years experience in fundraising, marketing, or donor engagement and communications
  • Comfortable in graphic design, adobe suite, video editing software and digital platforms
  • Strong ability to write compelling stories and content for a donor audience
  • Organization, logistical and project management skill set to support donor engagement and fundraising.
  • Good listening and communications skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment, tact and confidentiality in relation to donors and other audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Handle issues proactively and work with team to solve problems.
  • Strong commitment to self-awareness.
  • Interest and openness to equity, diversity and inclusion in both internal and external facing work duties.
  • Experience in use of Raiser’s Edge, Illuminate and/or other Client Relationship Management (CRM) software or willingness to learn these programs.
  • Comfort or openness to occasionally working outdoors or on conservation properties for donor activities and tours.
  • An appreciation for or willingness to learn about nature and conservation.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF POSITION

NCC is seeking an individual to join the Saskatchewan & Manitoba Development team in the role of Development Officer - Stewardship, to ensure high-quality stewardship of donors and enhancing the major gift donor experience through products and experiences throughout the donor journey. The Development Officer will be responsible for working in collaboration with a variety of NCC business units to deliver on donor retention and donor journey strategies.
The Development team raises funds needed for conservation projects and priorities across the prairies with a specific focus on the Prairie Grasslands Action Plan. The development officer will help to share NCC’s work and achievements with a range of audiences through a variety of storytelling tools.
The Development Officer Stewardship will work as part of the Development team to implement a value-based and donor-centric fundraising philosophy. The position will be a key contributor to the fundraising and communication goals for the regions.

POSITION TASKS

The Development Officer Stewardship will be accountable for the following tasks:

  • In collaboration with the Development team and Director of Development, design and implement a stewardship program for donors that uses creative and efficient engagement strategies (including donor reports and events) to demonstrate conservation impact, build trust and nurture long-term relationships.
  • Track and report on the success of stewardship initiatives.
  • Improve processes for identifying and stewarding donors who may have the capacity to make larger gifts and elevate to major gift officers when appropriate.
  • Create customized materials for donor journey, including cases for support, case documents, project sheets, and proposals.
  • Bring forward and implement creative ideas to help elevate the donor experience and support the outreach efforts of our frontline fundraisers.
  • Act as the regional lead to ensure alignment with NCC-wide stewardship initiatives, standards and processes.
  • Coordinate gift agreements, pledges, and reports for donors and grants.
  • Stewardship of corporate partnerships. This includes ensuring we meet our agreement commitments (i.e. reporting, social media) and supporting annual renewal where appropriate.
  • Provide expertise to the Development, Communications & Engagement, and the wider teams in stewardship best practices and the use of digital platforms for donor stewardship at NCC (e.g. templates, Raiser’s Edge, Daisy).
  • Ensure that all stewardship activity is recorded in RE and that donor records are up to date.
