Functions as the Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator for the Emory Institute for Drug Development (EIDD).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent plus seven years of professional experience in a related field. Experience with scientific societies, committees, and manuscript review at the national level is preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in virology, biochemistry or related field is required. Candidates with previous experience in RNA polymerase biochemistry demonstrated by good publication record should apply.
- Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in the designing, construction, expressing, purification and characterization of viral RNA dependent RNA polymerases/polymerase complexes and in designing and execution of polymerase assays. Strong publication record in the field is required.
Responsibilities:
- Provides overall program/project leadership and management, and assumes responsibility for projects. May lead multiple research projects and research teams, and contribute to defining expertise-related aspects of overall program goals.
- Independently performs scientific experiments with a predefined goal including developing new methodologies, protocols and/or procedures that contribute to core group/R&D goals and reflect expert knowledge. Recruits, hires, supervises, evaluates, and mentors/develops scientific staff.
- Oversees financial aspects of program, with respect to cost of experiments, technology, external collaborations, and travel. May submit protocol proposals to Emory IACUC, and upon approval, have access to Emory vivaria. Performs other related duties as required.
