Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Staff Software Developer to work with us to build amazing new products for airlines and travelers. This role will report to and work from our Montreal office.
We firmly believe there are many complex unsolved challenges in travel technology, and if you are excited about helping us solve some of them, we would like to meet you.
Our Software Developers are mainly full stack. In a typical week, a developer will develop new features with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, and frontend, automation, and test developers. We value shipping well tested high quality features fast and frequently. They also collaborate with peers to develop technical proposals and contribute to internal tools that optimize our development processes. They will assist our skilled support team and operations team in triaging and resolving issues.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Take ownership and technically drive a team to deliver great value, through high quality products, on time, in an Agile development environment.
- Evangelize about writing understandable, clean and testable code with an eye towards maintainability.
- Convey complex technical concepts to designers, support representatives, or to other developers
- Lead technical architecture discussions in front of a whiteboard and help drive technical decisions.
- Organize continuous improvement in his team in skills and practices.
- Taking the initiative to identify and solve problems, making balanced trade-offs with respect to the business value
- Seek empirical evidence through proof of concepts, tests and external research
- Execute ‘drama-free’ launches and drive big features from technical design through completion
- Create sweeping improvements in stability, performance and scalability across business-critical systems
- Empower the team to do technical testing and validation in order to provide a high-quality product
- Demonstrate knowledge of industry trends, technical infrastructure, deployment systems and tools.
- Ability to consistently reduce the complexity of services and processes in order to improve productivity and scalability
- Providing support and guidance to less experienced peers, acting as a mentor.
- Holding many show-and-tell sessions and influencing greatly his peers
