The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This role will be based at a site in Reading or Leatherhead 2/3 days a week.

YOUR FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you passionate about automation, deployment, and transforming infrastructure processes? Join us as a DevOps Engineer and play a critical role in upgrading and automating application installations across multiple environments for a high-profile project.

As part of a small, agile workstream (2-3 members), you’ll be responsible for:

• Upgrading and rebuilding custom .NET applications to modern standards using updated Visual Studio versions and libraries.
• Testing applications on newer operating systems, applying adjustments where necessary.
• Transitioning to an automated deployment approach via PowerShell DSC and Ansible for configuration and installation.
• Deploying applications across multiple environments through automated processes.

This role requires collaboration on-site in Leatherhead or Reading (2-3 days per week), especially during the project’s early phases, and occasional out-of-hours outage support (as agreed).

Key Responsibilities

• Understand the scope of required changes and provide technical input.
• Develop Ansible and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation.
• Automate application installation using PowerShell DSC and Ansible.
• Implement automated infrastructure resources and configurations.
• Create and maintain design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform
• Continuous Integration (CI) tools such as Jenkins
• Source control tools e.g. Git
• Scripting with PowerShell or similar
• Problem-solving skills
• Ansible for configuration management
• Knowledge of Windows OS and Linux.

Desired Competencies

• Familiarity with C#
• Technical writing experience
• Azure DevOps and Azure Public Cloud experience
