DEVOPS ENGINEER

Full-time, permanent position that works onsite in our SE Calgary, AB office.
As the DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our infrastructure, ensuring seamless deployment and operation of our applications. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to improving our systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps or similar role.
• Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong background in Linux/Unix administration.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a keen eye for design.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Proficient in Node.js platform and JavaScript.
• Experience with Nest.js framework for building APIs.
• Expertise in Fastify, the fastest HTTP framework in JavaScript.
• Proficient in TypeORM for SQL generation without database platform dependency.
• Knowledge of serverless cloud services such as Cloud Run and Cloud Functions.
• Familiarity with API Gateway for scalable server management.

INFRASTRUCTURE KNOWLEDGE:

• Experience with memory caching techniques on application servers.
• Proficient in using Redis for remote caching and shareable central cache server.
• Understanding of multithreading using Node.js cluster package for load balancing.
• Ability to manage and run multiple microservices on servers.
• Capability to customize TypeORM for specific database platforms and Fastify for security enhancements.
• Experience with message queues to enhance service performance and request distribution.
• Knowledge of technologies such as Rapid MQ, Kafka, and Cloud Run services.
• Familiarity with various messaging topologies like Direct, Fan out, Topic, Header-based, and Publish/subscribe models.
• Proficient in using visualization tools such as Grafana and Kibana.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, New Relic, and Datadog.
• Knowledge of ElasticSearch for building robust search engines.
