JOB DESCRIPTION

You belong to the top echelon of talent in your field. At one of the world’s most iconic financial institutions, where infrastructure is of paramount importance, you can play a pivotal role.
As a DevOps Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Research & Analytics team, you leverage your strong expertise in software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. You apply your technical skills and problem-solving methodologies across multiple applications of moderate scope to address complex and broad business challenges with simple and effective solutions. By utilizing code and cloud infrastructure, you configure, maintain, monitor, and optimize applications and their associated infrastructure, independently breaking down and iteratively enhancing existing solutions. You play a key role in your team by sharing your knowledge of end-to-end operations, availability, reliability, and scalability of your application or platform in both private and public cloud environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Formal training or certification on site reliability engineering concepts and proficient applied experience in public cloud such as AWS or Azure or GCP
  • Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, Java/Spring Boot
  • Expertise in at least one technology stack designing, coding, testing, and delivering software
  • Experience with Kubernetes and managing infrastructure using IaC
  • Experience in cloud computing (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to contribute to large and collaborative teams and proactively recognize road blocks and demonstrates interest in learning technology that facilitates innovation
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery tools like Jenkins, GitLab
  • Experience in managing and defining large infrastructure via IaC ( preferably Terraform)
  • Experience in at least one observability tool such as DynaTrace, DataDog, CloudWatch, AppDynamics, Splunk.,

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience a plus in common SRE toolchains: Grafana, Prometheus, ElasticSearch, Kibana
  • Experience with DevOps tool chain like Kubernetes, IaC tools, cost optimization, resiliency, performance, deployment patterns.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope, with a focus on improving the data and systems running at scale, and ensures end to end monitoring of applications
  • Able to drive the continuous improvement of reliability, monitoring and alerting for our mission-critical infrastructure and applications.
  • Reduce toil by automation, creating reliable infrastructure and tooling to expedite feature development.
  • Engage with development team throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability and scale, ensuring minimal refactoring or changes; Design self-healing and resiliency patterns
  • Collaborate and influence across the organization on behalf of our application portfolio.
  • Respond to incidents alongside developers and infrastructure engineers where required, providing support and insight.
  • Collaborate with other software engineers and teams to design and implement deployment approaches using automated continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Implement infrastructure, configuration, as code for the applications and platforms in your remit
