The Role
The DevOps Engineer has the understanding and experiences of cultural philosophies, practices, and tools to help Proofpoint deliver end-to-end applications and infrastructure solutions safely and at high velocity. The DevOps Engineer will assist on larger projects or run smaller projects by themselves. A successful candidate has technical depth and hands-on implementation experience of various practices and tools in the DevOps toolchain. The DevOps Engineer is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to design and code modules for infrastructure, application and processes.

Your Day to Day

• Design and maintain highly available and robust infrastructure services that increases productivity
• Maintain quality of code, up-to-date documentation, and a high degree of ownership
• Work in a dynamic environment and respond to interrupts in a timely manner
• Provide escalation support for infrastructure platforms running in production
• Provide mentoring to others within the team and the larger Operations organization

What You Bring to the Team

• 3+ years of related experience preferably in a SaaS environment
• 3+ years of cloud environment experience preferably working with AWS
• 3+ years of experience working with Configuration-as-Code (CaC) (Ansible Preferred)
• 3+ years of experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) (Terraform Preferred)
• 3+ years of experience in Linux systems administration and/or engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby, or Groovy.
• Experience with Version Control Systems (VCS) like Git or SVN
• Experience with provisioning and securing databases like mysql, postgres, mongoDB in a cloud environment
• Experience with application containerization and container ecosystems (Docker and Kubernetes Preferred)
• Prior experience with Observability tools like SignalFX, Datadog, or Prometheus
• Hands-on experience with building and managing release systems, code merging and promotion, and CI/CD workflows and tools.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, security best practices, and system administration.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate core DevOps concepts (CI/CD, Agile & Automation)

Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee. This role may be eligible for variable pay and/or equity. SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area:
Base Pay Range: 128,940.00 - 202,620.00 USD
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:
Base Pay Range: 106,750.00 - 167,750.00 USD
All other cities and states excluding those listed above:
Base Pay Range: 96,320.00 - 151,360.00 US
