DevOps Engineer - SaaS

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join us and act as an individual contributor within the software development team at Hanson Wade. The role will require the development and maintenance of Hanson Wade Group’s infrastructure, systems and customer-facing digital products. The role will also include supporting other people within the development team as well as its processes and working practices.
The software development team forms part of the Technology department. The team will be working on our Beacon data platform which supports the drug development industry by providing up-to-date data on drugs, clinical trials, deals and companies. The role requires collaboration with colleagues from around the business, and therefore there is a requirement to work from the office in London for around 2–3 days a week.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience of software infrastructure and development, for example, previous commercial employment and/or a degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Experience in the cloud-hosted SAAS (software as a service) industry.

Required Skills

• Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Azure platform, backed up by demonstrable commercial experience.
• A good knowledge of infrastructure architecture and design.
• Good expertise with continuous integration and deployment pipelines, including automation and testing.
• Great knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as ARM templates, Bicep or Terraform.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps.
• Version control using git.
• Knowledge of security best practices, tools and standards

Desirable Skills

• Understanding of the Azure Well-Architected Framework and its key recommendations.
• Experience with back-end development using C# and .NET.
• Experience with front-end development using Typescript and Angular.
• Experience with SQL (using SQL Server).
• Experience with agile methodologies (e.g. Kanban, Scrum)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work as part of the software development team to build and maintain infrastructure for our digital products.
• Aim for continuous improvement by seeking out opportunities for enhancements in line with our platform roadmap.
• Create and maintain efficient automated continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Ensure that our systems and infrastructure are secure according to industry standards and support the team to integrate security best practices in our development processes.
• Establish procedures and tooling for monitoring and alerting and respond to incidents promptly.
• Use infrastructure as code as a basis for a strong focus on continuous delivery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders from across the business to improve our digital products.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning within the software development team, including creating effective documentation and undertaking knowledge sharing.
