Overview
Nomad has an exciting opportunity for an experienced DevOps System Administrator to join our global Engineering division in Newcastle. The purpose of this role is to deploy and maintain a complex backend infrastructure product using various toolchains in a variety of private and public cloud environments (VMware, OpenStack, Azure, AWS). This role requires an individual with experience in administration and troubleshooting as well as an awareness of networking. You will undertake monitoring and maintenance of complex IT solutions, analysis and diagnosis of problems, providing recommendations and implementing corrective solutions.
This role will be based from our Newcastle head office with a hybrid working arrangement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possess expert knowledge of the Linux operating system, server and storage infrastructure products, virtualization technologies, cloud services and networking principles
  • Ability to diagnose faults and offer solutions across a broad range of IT and communication systems with an emphasis on Linux environments, Virtualization, Security, and networking.
  • Implement and support complex solutions in diverse system environments
  • Containerization and container management (Docker)
  • Configuration management
  • Planning and developing new systems to meet customer requirements
  • Analyzing and implementing security policies and best practices
  • IP network configuration
  • Using appropriate tools provide 24x7 system monitoring of all systems and services
  • Where appropriate create documentation for both internal and external use
  • Adhere to all system audit requirements as appropriate
  • Troubleshooting application and system issues
  • Implement automation and logging systems
  • Backup solutions and disaster recovery
  • Build test specifications and undertake test cycles to develop standard test plans and document the results
  • Troubleshoot and offer 3rd line support
  • Operate within guidelines of the role and recognize when it is appropriate to escalate matters within the team to ensure the level of customer service is maintained.

Qualifications:
Computer Science degree or similar level of experience.

Essential

  • RHCE or equivalent experience

Desired
CCNA or equivalent Cisco experience
