The DevOps department sits within the Turbine SW Organization in Vestas. The department is key for ensuring SW quality of the solutions that control all Vestas turbines, powering millions of homes with wind energy. Your team will have SW Development engineers, primarily in Porto (Portugal) and Aarhus (Denmark) but with global responsibility. The team will have the following focus areas:
- Ideating, maintaining, and improving the toolchain SW Developers use
- Design, implement, and develop CI/CD pipelines to automate the software development lifecycle
- Improve the developer experience as a whole and make them more efficient
With the increase expected of Wind Turbine volumes, the quality of the SW and the efficiency with which we deliver SW to our customers is of the utmost importance, so this is a critical leadership position with high exposure and opportunities to grow.
QUALIFICATIONS
- You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering or relevant education
- More than 5 years of professional experience in a DevOps or related role
- You have the desire and the ability to understand the technical domain
- Relevant experience in implementing a CI/CD or a DevOps environment
- Experience with Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins
- Experience in leadership of remote teams in different locations
- Good communication skills in English
- Global mindset and good cultural understanding
Responsibilities:
You will report to the VP of Turbine Control SW and will be responsible for both people leadership and to some extent the technical domain, which is shared with the technical leadership. More specifically, your responsibilities will cover:
- People management (one-on-one dialogues, development plans, target settings.
- Be in close dialogue with all teams developing SW in Vestas to understand the needs and pain points
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to improve innovation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
- Advocate a culture of continuous learning and development within the team
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevOps engineers
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture
