Description:
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Imaging Manager REPORTS TO: Imaging Manager Job Purpose: To work closely with diagnostic radiographers supporting them, working within established policies and processes. To ensure an exemplary level of customer service is provided to patients, clinicians and clinic teams. The post involves caring for patients, preparation for examinations, housekeeping, clerical and general administrative duties in all areas including X-ray, MRI, Dexa and Ultrasound, as well as assisting with PACS image processing. To provide assistance and care for patients within the Department of Radiology To provide support and assistance to consultants and radiographers, working within established policies and processes.
To work within a professional, self-managed patient care team To perform housekeeping and support duties of high standards whilst rotating through all sections throughout the department. Main Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Maintain a patient focused quality approach to all aspects of work. 2.
Assist in the care and comfort of the patient at all times. 3. Escort patients to and from clinical rooms and, when necessary, assist with undressing and dressing and provide a chaperone service to clinicians/radiographers. This may include helping patients move between positions, helping patients stand etc, in which effective manual handling techniques are required.
4. Assist the radiographers during examinations, as requested. This may include interventional procedures and the handling and use of sterile consumables. Assisting radiographers and radiologists in ultrasound lists if needed.
5. Ensure the smooth running of clinics in ultrasound, MRI, Dexa and x-ray. 6. Ensure clinical rooms are prepared to the appropriate level of cleanliness, as described in the Infection Control policy, prior to the start of the clinical session and maintained throughout the day.
7. Using Radiology Information System (Soliton) in order to, interrogate the database, update details, print clinic lists and booking patients out after procedures and examinations. Ensuring all aspects are undertaken within the Data Protection guidelines. 8.
Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels for Radiology and work with the Operations Manager to order supplies of linen, gowns and consumables. Ensure daily stocks for the department are maintained. 9. Check all the received orders and distribute stock across the different areas of radiology.
10. Assist in the induction and training of new RDAs. 11. Provide administration support as required.
12. Handle telephone queries efficiently with tact and diplomacy. 13. Safe and secure transportation of equipment between sites as required, which may involve pushing/pulling a weight of up to 50kg, and lifting equipment up to 25kg.
(Ensuring Manual Handling Policy is followed correctly) 14. Adhere to the Corporate and local policies applicable to the role. 15. Be able to work as an effective team member alongside Radiographers, Radiologists and Assistants to ensure the efficient provision of the imaging service.
