Description:

Highland Crest Home is accepting applications for a Dietary Aide/Cook position to become part of a dynamic team that ensures our residents are provided with nutritious and delicious meals. The ideal candidate will have experience in meal preparation, kitchen operations, and maintaining food safety standards in a Long Term Care Setting. The successful applicant must demonstrate resident-focused care in terms of positive behavior and attitude. You have the ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, time management, organizational skills, patience, flexibility and adaptability are required in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • Possess a current Food Handler’s Certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow diet orders and work assignments.
  • Available to work flexible hours including weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for ensuring food is handled in a safe manner including proper storage and labelling
  • Assist cook in basic food preparation
  • Wash, clean and maintain the kitchen and dining room.
  • Serve meals to residents in a professional and courteous manner following resident diet orders.
