Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides assistance in all nutrition services functions as directed/instructed by the Chef Manager in accordance with the agency’s standards and procedures, federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Maintains ServSafe Certification and USDA Training Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required. Associates Degree in Food Service Management preferred with three (3) years’ experience or five (5) years’ experience with quantity food service production.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule; this is a 12-month position.
  • Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary. Knowledge of Nutrikids Software system or similar program; must become familiar with vendor food and supply ordering systems.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required and be able to deliver meals or supplies on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares meals, snacks and nourishments.
  • Assists in menu planning, purchasing and recipe development.
  • Assists with inventory control.
  • Responsible for school lunch meal production and/or residential dinner meal production and delivery. Responsible for shift coverage at other locations as assigned.
  • Provides individuals with nourishing, attractive, well balanced meals that are served at proper temperature, on a timely basis.
  • Makes only authorized substitutions to menus, snacks or nourishments.

Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures, adhering to Meal Plans and Mealtime Nursing Protocols for specific diets.

  • Ensures that food supplies for the next day’s production are readily available. Completes pre-preparations as required.
  • Assists with production and service needs for Catered events as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining all work/storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
  • Moves stock and equipment as necessary to complete daily cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Signs off cleaning schedule.
  • Demonstrates proper use of equipment. Reports equipment needs or repairs
  • Uses required protective equipment
  • Sweeps and mops floors as directed
  • Carries out garbage
  • Keeps work areas clean, dry and free of hazards
  • Performs ware-washing duties as assigned
  • Assists in orientation and training of employees as assigned
  • Treats all staff and individuals receiving services with dignity, respect and courtesy
  • All other duties as assigned.
