Job Title: Dietitian Basic Grade
Contract Type: Specified term- maternity cover
Job Summary:
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, patient centric dietitian, who will assist and support the department in the provision of high-quality clinical nutrition and dietetic services at out-patient, in-patient and day care level.
This post will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to gain varied experience in a wide range of specialties within the private hospital setting. These specialties include Oncology, Palliative Care, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Orthopaedics, Respiratory and General Surgery.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for contributing to the organisation and provision of Nutrition and Dietetic Services, at out-patient, inpatient and day care level, in the hospital.
- Liaise with medical, nursing and other clinical and non-clinical staff regarding patients under her care, thus supporting and strengthening a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Keep accurate and adequate records as defined in the department policy and procedure guidelines.
- Complete Dietetic statistics on a daily basis.
- Attend weekly meetings to include both oncology and discharge planning MDT.
- Liaise with catering staff in the provision of therapeutic diets.
- Provide education on nutrition to hospital staff if requested to do so by the Head of Department.
- Help to develop, implement and evaluate policies and procedures for the provision of Nutrition and Dietetic Services.
- Keeps abreast of developments in Nutrition and Dietetics, particularly in relation to Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Oncology and weight management.
- Develop, source, evaluate and update Nutrition Resource Materials and diet sheets.
- Ensure that health and safety procedures are followed within the department and observe these procedures both in the department and throughout the hospital.
- Be accountable for housekeeping/ good work practices / safety within the department & comply with health and safety Regulations, ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment.
- To implement quality standards and ensuring a quality service is provided at all times.
- To undertake any other duties that may be specified by the Head of Department
Qualifications - Applications are invited from suitably qualified dietitians
Essential Criteria:
- Hold a qualification approved by the Dietitians registration board at CORU.
- Be registered with the Dietitians registration board at CORU.
- Maintain live annual registration with the Dietitians registration board at CORU.
- Have some experience in clinical dietetics, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability for working within a team and the ability to prioritise case load in a busy setting) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office
- Be able to communicate in English to the standard equivalent of level 7 of the International English Language Testing System
- Be eligible to be a member of the INDI
Essential Experience:

- Excellent judgement and decision-making ability
